Chairmans letter for the Handbook
Welcome to all members, new and old, of Bletchley Town Cricket Club for the 2010 season. As at the start of every cricket season I can’t wait for the weather to clear and the play to start. Last year provided us with mixed results for our teams. The Saturday First XI consolidated their position in the Cherwell League First Division. The Second XI just missed promotion out of Division 7, despite a good season. However due to administrative changes in the league, this team will play in Division 6 this year. The third XI continued in the Morrants league, scoring some significant victories, but due to calls from other sides, were unable to push for promotion. On Sunday our team in the Milton Keynes league, having been promoted, met with very strong opposition. Despite being outclassed on many occasions they still managed to give people good competition. The reorganisation of this league into 3 divisions means that this side is certain to be more competitive in 2010. The Mid Week side also had mixed results, with notable performances from many players. It is hoped that more of the younger members of the club make themselves available for this side. I am pleased to announce that Tom Joraslafsky will be joining us for the 2010 season. Tom is a batsman/ offspinner, who comes from South Australia. I am sure that you will join me in welcoming him on his arrival. Events so far planned for this season, are the club tour to Mallorca in April, and a repeat of our successful Sri Lankan evening in July. We will look to add some more to the calendar. I look forward to a successful season, including many good performances from all of our members, playing on excellent wickets produced by Tony and Alan. Here is wishing for an enjoyable, and more important dry summer |
