|
Park batted 1st against a very good Olney side and really struggled against the tight bowling and
slow wicket. Only Nick Barden with 21 getting to double figures as Park struggled to 69 off their
20 overs. In reply Olney sped to their victory target, with Matt Allen 1 - 7 off two overs the only
bowler to get a wicket. Olney batted on after the winning runs were hit to give everyone a bit of
much needed practise.
|
16th May Away versus Winslow
MK Park 71 - 8 16 overs Winslow 72 - 6 off 15.2 overs Winslow won by 4 wickets
|
On a gloomy and damp evening Park decided to bat first, Matt Shepherd batted well for his innings
of 23 before playing on. Park were well set with Nick Barden and Satchi Mehendren playing well
before five wickets fell for five runs as the innings fell away. The last three overs producing only three
runs. In reply Winslow lost two wickets in the first over as Ben Talbot gave Park the perfect start.
Winslow chipped away at the score, but Matt Allen 0 / 6 off two overs , Satchi Mehendren 2 / 13
off 4 overs and Matt Shepherd 2 / 7 off 3 overs all bowled well. The game came down to the last
over but a good shot from the Winslow number six saw them over the line.
|
2nd June Away versus Great Brickhill
MK Park 106 - 5 20 overs Great Brickhill 90 - 6 off 20 overs MK Park won by 16 runs
|
This was MK Park best performance of the season so far, excellent batting from Matt Shepherd (16),
Adam Wirth (18) and Nick Barden with a very hard hit 32 before compulsory retirement gave Park
a superb platform. In the previous game the middle order slipped away, but this time Tom Brotherton
with 21 along with George Shreives (6 not out) batted with great sense. They also gave a lesson on
how to run between the wickets picking up every available run. In reply Kobi Balendren opening the
bowling down the hill on the bouncy astro turf pitch was a real handful. Kobi was very reminiscent
of Devon Malcolm as he sent down some seriously fast and nasty deliveries (if not all accurate) to
the startled Brickhill batsmen. But it was the introduction of Adam Wirth that took control of the
match for Park. Adam bowled an immaculate line of off stump and was rewarded with the figures of
1 / 7 off three overs. All of the other bowlers bowled good spells, Haron Bhara 0 / 15 off 4 overs,
Gareth Austin 0 / 21 off three overs, Matt Shepherd 1 / 11 off four overs and George Shreives 0 / 23
off four overs. All the bowlers were backed up by a superb fielding display by everyone, with Nick
Barden excellent behind the stumps including a customary stumping. Park also effected four run
outs , one of them coming by quick thinking by Harry Tarrant who was excellent in the field all night.
|
19th June Away versus Buckingham
Buckingham 125 - 3 20 overs MK Park 90 - 6 off 20 overs Buckingham won by 35 runs
|
A poor fielding display by Park allowed Buckingham to 125 - 3 on what was a difficult to bat on
Astro surface. The Highlight of the innings was two stumpings in two balls by Nick Barden off the
bowling of Haron Bhara to give him his 1st wickets of the season. Adam Wirth 0 / 11 off three overs
and Matt Shepherd bowling at the end 0 / 17 off four overs bowling tidy spells. In reply Adam Wirth
went early and so did Nick Barden after a quick fire innings of 12. The two Buckingham slow bowlers
put the breaks on Park as Shepherd fell for 13, Tom Brotherton for 5, Harry Tarrant for nought and
Arnold for 1. With little chance of victory Satchi Mehendren with 26 not out who played some lovely
strokes and John Waite 5 not out batted out the overs as Buckingham won by 35 runs.
|

and Adam Wirth both retired when they reached 30. Nick Barden then made 27 including a six into
the road and Tom Brotherton 20 before both retiring. Harry Tarrant and Keiron Forrest batted the last
two overs out to end with 3 not out and 5 not out. In reply good fielding and bowling made sure Park
were always on top. Ben Parker with 1 / 17 off four overs, Matt Allen 1 / 11 off three overs and Harron
Bhara 1 / 13 off three overs the wicket takers. Park used nine bowlers as Olney finished on 106 - 4,

|
Park were up against unbeaten local rivals Wolverton , Park batted 1st and lost opener Gareth
Austin with just two on the board. Nick Barden batting at number 3 was dimissed with the score on
29. Matt Shepherd cut loose hitting three fours off four balls before having to retire on 30. Harry
Tarrant played his best innings of the season for Park with 17 not out, Tom Brotherton also playing
well for 18 as he was out in the last over. John Waite batting at number six finished one not out as
Park set Wolverton 89 to win. Ben Talbot opened the bowling for Park and bowled a superb spell of
four overs for only eight runs and the wicket of opener Butler. George Shrieve also bowling a good
spell of 0 / 14 off three. Matt Shepherd picked up a couple of wickets taking 2 / 25 off four overs as
the Wolverton batsman took hold. Kobi Balendren bowled a seriously fast spell of bowling making
life very uncomfortable for the Wolverton batsmen. The winning runs came via an edge for four a fast
bouncer that evaded keeper Nick as Wolverton won by 7 wickets.
